The mission of Communities That Care of Marinette & Menominee Counties (CTC) is to promote healthy lifestyles and choices throughout our communities to benefit our youth and their families. CTC does this by focusing on adolescent substance use including alcohol, tobacco products, marijuana and prescription drug use by reducing youth and community risk factors, and building protective factors.

Funded Program

CTC Underage Drinking Prevention Media Campaign

This media campaign will educate area youth, parents, and community members on the scientifically proven harmful effects of alcohol use on adolescent brain development and the increased risk of addiction later in life.  Targeted messaging will use youth-friendly language on billboards, social media content, and digital advertising to clearly explain how alcohol affects the developing brain and long-term health.   Continued parent & community education will provide fact-based information on how adults can help prevent underage drinking, recognize warning signs, and foster open conversations with youth.   Myth-busting messages on campaign materials will address common misconceptions (e.g., “a little drinking is harmless” or “it helps kids learn to drink responsibly”) by highlighting the neurological and behavioral risks.

Community Impact

Target Population:  7-12th grade students in public school districts in Marinette and Menominee Counties and their families.
