U.P. Foster Closet of Menominee Facebook Page
The U.P. Foster Closet of Menominee is dedicated and united in their mission to provide assistance to children placed in local foster care or into the care of someone other than their biological parents.
Funded Program
Project Revamp
The U.P. Foster Closet opened in August 2020. The purpose is to provide new and like new items to children being cared for by those that are not their biological parents (foster children, grandparents, etc.). Volunteers at the U.P. Foster Closet are committed to ensuring children who are experiencing a difficult transition in their life feel the most comfortable they can be. It is not their fault that they often have to change homes, schools, and friends. The Closet strives to provide clothing that is in style and in top condition so that children do not have to worry about not fitting in with peers in their new school.
Community Impact
Target Population: Tri-County area tweens & teenagers in foster care or who are being cared for by someone other than their biological parents.
Number of Individuals Served: 503
Teens within our community will be provided with clothes that are tailored to their specific style and needs. This is an important step in promoting dignity, inclusion and confidence in those teens, and provides them with the ability to feel valued, seen, and heard. This also allows them the ability to fit in with their peers, which can assist in further reducing stigma surrounding children in care.
